Russian Style in Paris

It was a cold December evening when Olga arrived in Paris, I could not wait to know that much talked about Russian girl! She showed up at my door in all her elegance with a suitcase full of dreams, many gifts and a unique style that intrigued me right away. Sudden she opened the bag, she had something for us… A lot of fondant sugar chocolates, colorful Russian dolls and shiny Christmas eggs finely decorated! And just today hanging on my tree that little egg I’ve thought of her and those happy moments  in a Christmas Paris, strolling together along Champs-Élysées illuminated in blue!

I’ll never forget the first time I saw her, wrapped in a mink coat, the elegant white silk blouse, blacks  leather boots with fur details and the amazing John Galliano skirt! Every day she amazed me, her look always at top of elegance and that energy that drew me, for whole afternoons, in the best shops of the city from Lafayette to BHV, then in and out of boutiques in the Marais, or those of rue St Honoré, and did not end here , because soon we would have found in St Michel for an aperitif, with our thousand shopping bags and two glasses of Champagne!

Olga, a lover of beautiful things, of  haute couture, Parisian sophistication, definitely good taste and a feminine and graceful style! In her wardrobe were not lack clothing signed by Italian and French designers,  lace dresses, classic-cut pants, elegant coats and fur coat, many refined, embroidered skirts and tights, I will not dwell on her accessories! It was curious to discover how Russian culture lives fashion and to appreciate a style that goes beyond trends, a timeless elegance where femininity and refinement are the key to any outfit without forgetting the passion for the most prestigious brands! A style that has stayed with me, in my heart!

Era una fredda sera di dicembre quando Olga arrivò a Parigi, non vedevo l’ora di conoscere quella ragazza russa di cui tanto si parlava! Si presentò alla mia porta in tutta la sua eleganza con una valigia piena di sogni, tanti regali e uno stile unico che m’intrigò fin da subito. D’un tratto aprì la borsa, aveva qualcosa per noi… Un sacco di cioccolatini di zucchero fondente, matriosche coloratissime e dei luccicanti ovetti natalizi finemente decorati! E proprio oggi appendendo al mio alberello quell’ovetto ho pensato a lei e a quei momenti felici di un Natale a Parigi passeggiando sur les Champs-Élysées illuminati d’azzurro!

Non dimenticherò mai la prima volta che la vidi, avvolta in una pelliccia di visone, l’elegante camicetta di seta bianca, stivaletti neri in pelle con dettagli in pelo e quella strepitosa gonna di John Galliano! Ogni giorno riusciva a stupirmi, i suoi look sempre al massimo dell’eleganza e quell’energia che mi trascinava, per interi pomeriggi, nei migliori negozi della città da Lafayette a BHV, poi dentro e fuori per le boutiques del Marais, se non quelle di rue St Honoré, e, non finiva qui, perché di lì a poco ci saremmo ritrovate a St Michel per un aperitivo, con le nostre mille borse dello shopping e due bicchieri di Champagne!

Olga, un’amante delle belle cose, dell’ haute couture, delle raffinatezze parigine, decisamente buon gusto e uno stile femminile e aggraziato! Nel suo guardaroba non mancavano di certo vestiti di grandi stilisti italiani e francesi, abiti in pizzo, pantaloni dal taglio classico, cappottini e pellicce eleganti, tante gonne raffinate, ricamate e i collant, non mi dilungo sugli accessori! Era curioso scoprire come si vive la moda nella cultura russa e poter apprezzare uno stile che va oltre le tendenze, un’ eleganza senza tempo dove femminilità e raffinatezza sono la chiave di ogni outfit senza dimenticare la passione per le griffe più prestigiose! Uno stile che mi è rimasto nel cuore!
